Community Guidelines

The short version

• List real items you actually have, describe them honestly, price them fairly.
• Reply to buyers within a reasonable time and follow through on what you agree to.
• Meet in public, cash or in-app payment only, no rides in strangers’ vehicles.
• Don’t be a jerk. No harassment, no discrimination, no sketchy behavior.
• If it’s illegal in Pennsylvania, it’s illegal on Listd.

2. Descriptions must be honest

Condition, defects, and history all get disclosed. If the tool has a cracked housing, say so. If the car’s been in an accident, say so. Buyers who feel misled report the listing and we side with them when the evidence supports it.

What violates this:

• Hiding damage or defects
• Misrepresenting brand, model, year, or authenticity
• Odometer rollback or lying about vehicle history
• Claiming “works perfectly” when it doesn’t

3. Meet safely

Public place, daylight when possible, tell somebody where you’re going. Palmerton has multiple decent meeting spots — the police station parking lot at 443 Delaware Ave is a common Craigslist-style meetup and works here too.

What violates this:

• Pressuring buyers into meeting at your home or in isolated areas
• Insisting on cash-only when the item is expensive enough to warrant in-app payment
• Getting into anyone’s vehicle to “go see the item”

4. Communicate like a neighbor

Reply to messages within a day. If you’re not going to sell to someone, say so — don’t ghost. If the price is firm, say it’s firm; don’t entertain offers you have no intention of accepting. If plans change, tell the other person as soon as you know.

What violates this:

• Ghosting after agreeing to meet (no-show fees apply to rentals)
• Bait-and-switch tactics after the buyer arrives
• Aggressive haggling well below asking price
• Pressuring for personal info (SSN, bank routing, ID) outside of Listd’s verified flow

5. No harassment. No discrimination.

Don’t use Listd to harass anyone. Don’t discriminate against buyers or sellers on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic. Don’t send unsolicited sexual content. Don’t threaten anyone.

This one is zero-tolerance. First violation = permanent ban.

6. Follow the law

If it’s illegal in Pennsylvania (or federally), it’s illegal on Listd. That includes:

• Firearms sold outside a licensed FFL transfer
• Controlled substances (including cannabis — recreational still illegal in PA)
• Stolen goods
• Counterfeit items or knockoffs sold as authentic
• Fake IDs or fake documents
• Human remains, live animals, or endangered wildlife
• Alcohol or tobacco (require state licensing)
• Items designed to defeat copyright or DRM
• Anything on the full prohibited-items list in Terms § 4

7. No spam, no manipulation

Don’t create multiple accounts, don’t game the review system, don’t list the same item 20 times, don’t use bots. If you’re trying to promote a business, that’s fine — but do it through a real seller profile, not through fake accounts.

What violates this:

• Sock-puppet accounts to inflate reviews or messages
• Automated listing bots
• Bulk cross-posting the same item across many listings to game search
• Off-platform payment coaxing (“let’s Venmo direct, skip the fees”) — this dodges buyer protection and is a ban

8. Respect intellectual property

Don’t list counterfeits. Don’t use other people’s photos without permission. If you receive a valid DMCA takedown, take it seriously. See our DMCA policy for the full process.

9. Rentals: return what you rent, in the condition you got it

If you rent a tool, mower, chipper, whatever — bring it back on time, clean, and in the condition you received it. Normal wear from proper use is fine. Damage from misuse or neglect gets charged back per our Rental Agreement. The Listd Guarantee fund covers renter damage up to $500 as a goodwill backstop for owners; abusing that fund gets you banned.

Reporting violations

Every listing has a “Report” link. Every user profile does too. If someone messages you in a way that violates these guidelines, screenshot it before you block them and forward to austin@listdmarket.com. If it’s an emergency or you feel physically unsafe, call 911 first — not us.
