Listd

Less scams. Better listings. Serious buyers only.

That’s it. That’s the whole brand. Everything we ship has to make one of those three things true — or it doesn’t ship.

Why this exists

Local marketplaces are broken. You know it. We know it. You post a lawn tractor and you get seven “is this still available?” messages from people who never show up. You drive 40 minutes for a couch that turns out to be trashed. You watch the same scam screenshot get reposted under five different burner accounts.

Facebook Marketplace doesn’t care — you’re inventory for their ad business. Craigslist abandoned it twenty years ago. eBay wants you shipping boxes across the country. None of them are built for the way real local commerce actually works: neighbor to neighbor, in person, with someone you can look in the eye.

We’re building the one that is.

What “less scams” means

We verify identities. Real names. ID-checked sellers and renters get a badge that can’t be faked. We scan listings for hate, defamation, and the same recycled scam patterns the big platforms ignore. Suspicious photos get hashed and cross-checked against the listings we’ve already seen — if someone tries to relist a stolen photo under a new name, we catch it.

You will never get a “Nigerian prince needs to ship this item to his nephew” message on Listd. If you do, report it and we kill the account. We don’t do warnings. We don’t do strikes. We do consequences.

What “better listings” means

Snap a photo. Our AI writes the title, picks the category, grades the condition from visible wear, and suggests a fair local price — in about three seconds. No more “Furniture for sale” with a blurry thumbnail and no description.

Got a garage full? Dump twenty photos into the batch composer at once. AI writes each one in parallel. You review the pile, fix anything that’s off, publish them all. That’s the pitch: you take the photos, we do the writing.

What “serious buyers only” means

When you tap “I’m Interested” on a listing, we ask one question: are you ready today, this week, or just browsing? That answer lands on the seller’s inbox with a colored chip, sorted hot-first. No more dead “hi” threads. No more chasing ghosts.

On bigger-ticket items we’ll ask for a small refundable deposit to hold the pickup. Show up, you get it back. Ghost the seller, you don’t. We’re not punishing anyone — we’re respecting the seller’s time. That’s the deal.

How we make money

Listd is free to use. No subscription, no posting fee, no boosted-listing scam where the people who pay outrank the neighbor next door. When we do charge — a small platform fee on rentals, optional promoted listings, eventually some honest, local advertising — it’s in plain English on the page, with a number you can read before you click. No dark patterns. No surprise charges. No surveillance-based ad targeting that follows you around the internet.

A piece of every rental fee sweeps into the Listd Guarantee fund. That’s our discretionary goodwill pot for when something goes sideways — not insurance, not a legal promise, but a real bucket of real money we use to make real things right.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your data. Read the Privacy Policy. We mean it.
  • We don’t run surveillance ads. If a local hardware store wants to sponsor a corner of the page, that’s honest business. What we will never do is track you across the internet, build a behavioral profile, and auction your attention to the highest bidder. Your eyeballs are not the product.
  • We don’t hide behind a support address. Email support@listdmarket.com and a real human writes back. Usually the founder.
  • We don’t fake activity. Every listing you see is a real person trying to do a real deal. We don’t seed the marketplace with fake inventory to make it look busier. If it’s quiet, it’s quiet, and we’ll go earn the next listing the hard way.

A note from the founder

I’m Austin. I’m building this in public, mostly out of a small town in Pennsylvania, mostly at night, mostly while everyone else is asleep. I’m not a venture-backed startup. I’m one guy with a laptop and a chip on his shoulder about how the big platforms treat the rest of us.

Things will break. When they do, I want to hear about it. There’s a Feedback button at the bottom right of every page — every message comes straight to me. I read all of them. I reply to most of them. If you tell me something’s broken, I’ll fix it before you finish your coffee the next morning.

That’s the deal. You bring real listings and real intentions. We bring real safety and real speed. Everybody wins — except the scammers, the ghosts, and the platforms that stopped caring about you a long time ago.

Let’s build something better.

— Austin, founder of Listd LLC
